Annual Fund Update and Highlights

As we reach the midpoint of our term as National Annual Fund Co-Chairs, we are pleased to update you on the success of the 2005-06 Annual Fund.  This past fiscal year, the Annual Fund secured $1,669,438 in gifts.  This impressive total included $883,851 from alumni (9.24% increase from last year) and $83,484 from parents (9.04% increase from last year).  In addition, the average gift to the Annual Fund increased by 2.08%, posting an all-time high of $116.85, and unrestricted support (which is our greatest need) experienced an increase of 4.65% totaling $583,971.

These positive results from last year were included in the recently completed “Navigating into the Future” Capital Campaign.  Over the seven years of the campaign, the Annual Fund exceeded the identified campaign goal each year.  Total contributions to the Annual Fund over those seven years were $10,392,117.

Among our Annual Fund Gift Clubs, our total membership was 1,691, including 289 new gift club members.  In addition, last year the SU Foundation introduced two new higher-end gift clubs – the 1871 Visionary Society and the Hilltop Heritage Society, with minimum gifts of $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.  The inaugural memberships in these new clubs were 18 and 28 respectively.

Results such as these are a reflection of the strong support that the Foundation receives each year from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, corporations, foundations, and friends.  Support for the Annual Fund is used to support various area of the University including scholarships, student programs, faculty/student research, and academic support.  As we continue into the new year, we ask for your continued support of the Annual Fund and help us reach our goal of $1.8 million.  With your help, we can continue to nurture excellence at Shippensburg University and enrich the lives of our students.  Thank you in advance!
