What would I be doing as a phonathon caller?

Student callers in the Phonathon room

Student callers are a vital part of the fundraising team for the Shippensburg University Foundation’s Annual Fund Program.  Each semester student callers gather nightly (Sunday – Thursday) in the calling center located at the Conference Center to call alumni, parents, and friends of the University.  Each student serves as an ambassador and fundraiser for Shippensburg during our “Ring-A-Raider” phonathons.  Not only do our students call to seek support for the University, but they also reconnect with those individuals who are unable to make it back to campus.

Student callers are essential in:

· Updating alumni information;

· raising increased support;

· ensuring the phonathons overall success;

· Maintaining and improving the SU experience.

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is a fundraising initiative involving students, volunteers, faculty, staff, and friends of Shippensburg University.  Money is raised each year to support expenses not covered by tuition and other fees.

Annual Fund money provides for the most immediate needs of the University such as:

·         student scholarships

·         student/faculty research projects

·         new technology

·         cultural programming

·         and much, much more!

In the 2007-08 year, student callers secured over $576,000 in pledges during the fall and spring phonathons alone!

We are always looking for energetic and enthusiastic students.  Added incentives, a flexible schedule, convenient location to campus, and a positive work atmosphere are only a few ways we try to make this the best possible job for you.
