Stewardship and Recognition
Gift Acknowledgment The Shippensburg University Foundation is the official gift receiving organization for Shippensburg University. The SU Foundation is responsible for the comprehensive, consistent and appropriate recognition of your gift, making sure that the information is accurately recorded and reported. Once you have made your gift, the SU Foundation will send an acknowledgement letter which will also serve as a receipt for your income tax records. For online gifts paid via credit card, a receipt is emailed immediately, followed by a written acknowledgment. The IRS requires a receipt for all charitable contributions of $250 or more. Our goal is to acknowledge gifts with a letter sent within 48 hours. At peak gift processing time, such as year end, it may take a little longer to record such gifts and send acknowledgements.
Endowed Fund Reporting Benefactors who have established an endowment will receive an annual endowment report containing the previous fiscal year end financial information and an update about the use of funds generated by the endowment. Benefactors of scholarship endowments will receive information about the student recipient and be invited to meet their recipient at the annual ‘Celebration of the Spirit of Generosity’ Scholarship Dinner in the spring. Donor Recognition The SU Foundation greatly appreciates the generosity of loyal alumni, friends, parents, organizations and corporations. Following are some of the ways the SU Foundation recognizes its loyal benefactors.
