  The Shippensburg University Foundation plays a vital role in the life of Shippensburg University by providing funding that supports the "margin of excellence" at SU. Although Shippensburg University is supported by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the percentage of its operating budget provided by the Commonwealth is continually decreasing. This increases the need for private support, making the SU Foundation an extremely important resource for Shippensburg University.  
   
   
     
 
Shippensburg University and the SU Foundation work together as partners in several projects, such as THE GRACE B. LUHRS UNIVERSITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, the CHILD AND FAMILY CENTER, and the STUDENT HOUSING INITIATIVES developed by the Foundation.
